Zoning Board of Appeals
Zoning Board of Appeals consists of 3 members and a Secretary each are appointed by the Township board for three-year terms. Members are appointed by the Township Board and are compensated for attending meetings. The Township Board sets the compensation annually. The three members decide citizen’s appeals and issues relating to the existing Township Zoning Ordinance. The Secretary records and prepares minutes and sends out notices of scheduled meetings. Alternate members may also be appointed.
The ZBA members appoint a Chairman. Meetings are held when the Chairman request (usually when a property owner submits an appeal or a request for interpretation of the Zoning Ordinance to the Zoning Administrator). Meetings are normally held on the third Saturday of the month at 10:00 am however other times may be required. Typically Blue Lake has 2 to 3 ZBA meetings per year. All ZBA meetings are open to the Public and must be posted with a Notice placed in the local newspaper, the Secretary usually does this.
